It's A Boy!

Remember how I mentioned in my last post about ADVENTURE, :) well... IT'S A BOY!!! And what a ride it's been! First I want to say Thank you for all the many prayers that went out for us and our precious Luke Kristopher. The pregnancy was a tough one and the end was filled with so many uncertainties, But God is so good and He brought us through it all. I was diagnosed with complete placenta previa at 34 weeks pregnancy and was put on 100 % bed rest. That alone was filled with it's challenges for sure with three little girls at home :) But we are blessed with the best church family and dearest friends and so many helped by bringing meals, watching the girls and light house cleaning, THANK YOU ALL! You know who you are!
By 37 weeks I awoke at 6:30 in the morning with the signs that it was time to get to the hospital, Luke was on his way and a planned emergency C-section is what was going to have to take place. God had brought us far over the few weeks leading up to this day, He had protected me and the baby and had worked out so many miracles and still was working even through the day ahead. The song that we heard playing on the way to the hospital was, "I Can Trust Jesus"by the Collingsworth family. Randy and I, through tears, sang along knowing that every word was true and God was walking through all of this with us.
We arrived at the hospital at 8:30 am and the C-sec became schedualed for 11:15 am. Our pastor, pastor's wife, dear friend and doula Johanna and family Rob and Dee were all there to see us through :) I think it was a great comfort for my hubby, Randy had been so full of support and strength and now that the day was here and not knowing the outcome, it was what we needed. Surrounded by their prayers and many others across the country and even in Argentina :) We felt so blessed knowing this was one prayed for lil baby!
We were also blessed to have one of the best, Dr. Daniel Bowen of Springfield. do the surgery, We are so very thankful that God led us to him a couple of years ago, as I have worked with him as doula and know that I sure would'nt have wanted anyone else! The things he did for our family and the person he is was such a huge blessing. And now for the biggest miracle of all...

The doctor let us know that he rarely saw a 37 week baby so healthy and ready for home, "Thank you Lord!" All was safely over and although it's been a long road of recovery since, with it's share of difficult moments, the beautiful moments out shine it all. God has so richly blessed us once again and all I hope now is that these precious days don't pass us by too quickly!

O wow! So much time has passed! Hopefully my blogging sabatical is over and I can share our family updates more frequently with you all :) Life has been so very full, as a dear friend of mine said the other day, "it's a good thing you didn't know about the adventure ahead of you this past year, you might not have taken it!" I have to admit, there is some truth to that! But then I would have missed all of the blessings God sent our way, speaking of "Blessings", the song Blessings, by Laura Story has come to be very dear to my heart this year, filled with so much truth and very real to much of our life that we have traveled recently.

We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things

One of the hardest things we went through this past year was seeing a little boy that our family loves very much move on to a new family. He was a foster child for the past three years in our friends home, we went through the total process of adoption, and just when things looked like they would be complete! It was decided by the agency to place him somewhere else. To say our hearts were broken doesn't even come close to the feelings and grief we have felt, we had watched this little one grow up with our own Nikayla, loved him as one of our own, but God had different plans, we don't know why, we may never know but that's where the above song became so dear to us...

"Winter Fun"! We had a total of 22 people at our place on a Saturday night with 16 of them being children!! :) It was fun sledding behind the four wheelers, ice skating on the pond, and throwing snow, then topping it all off with chili, homemade bread, hot cocoa, coffee and fellowship with good friends :)

Wow! have our days been full!! It has been near impossible for me to find the time to update! And when I look at the last time I actually did I very much realize it is way past due! :) sooooo here goes~

Randy has been busy, busy, BUSY! With work which we are very blessed to have, Randalyn has started the second grade this year and has decided that history is boring! (o dear!) Autumn is turning 5! and has started kindergarten and to my surprise is loving every minute of it, she is my "busy one" so i wasn't sure she'd be able to sit through it. But she is and wishes her school days were longer! Nikayla is learning too, mostly right from wrong these days :) and is bringing much laughter to this household as she learns to mimic her sisters in talk and deed. And me well....I often feel am on overload but the Lord gives me HIS strength daily, while I cook, clean, can, home school, my own schooling, attend births, meet with clients, am...Wife, Mother, Doula, Teacher, Student, Homemaker, etc. etc! I'm sure Doctor, Farmer, Secretary, Cook, and maid all fit in there somewhere too! :) But most of all I'm a child of the King and my greatest desire is to reflect that one gift above all others...like I said, I daily need HIS strength, but don't we all :)

Life in the country some days can be , o sooo much fun :-p , today we are "potty training", so far all Nikayla has figured out is that if I sit on the potty, i get a chocolate chip! ergh, what have we started! She now needs to learn that we only get chocolate chips if we actually see some results! Then outside to find out that we have MORE babies on the farm, "free kitten's anyone?" But the trick was to find them! finally we did, in the top of daddy's shed stuffed in a volley ball net and box that at any moment was just waiting to fall from the ceiling, so after rearranging that, we discovered 6 little mewing kittens.
Life is good, Our God is great and we love it out here, goofy days and all! :)

It's puppy time again! "10" rolly, poley lil guy's and girls!

All three girls have so much fun with the puppies but it's Nikayla who is lifting about half her own size! She has learned Mia's name quite well (the mommy) and you will often here her outside calling away! Then today I heard Randalyn and Autumn in the shed with the puppies giving them the "buddies" names, seems that happens every litter.:)

"My wonderful raised garden!" After 2 years of flooding and losing the majority of our crops, God provided us a way to raise our garden, I fret no more when the soaking rains come our way! Just yesterday we had storms all day long, I went out to see the water merrily running down the isles not even touching the plants. A wonderfully huge thank you to my hard workin' man! He put many long hours into this project! Also a thank you to friends and family, Jared, Abe,Rob and Chad who pitched in!

A short history that goes like this is... I have shared in the past of our story of God
working in our hearts to go to the mission field as the door opens, to serve in Papua New
Guinea, the Country where my husband grew up. We have felt for several years that this
is Gods plan for our future, the goal that we are working towards! Randy is a
contractor and a licensed Mechanic, I am studying with Charis in the Doula / Childbirth
educator program with the ultimate goal of becoming a Midwife. These areas are very much
needed in this country and it is our hearts desire to be used by the Lord to serve those
in need.

This past week Randy was contacted about a current need for our skills in
PNG for the month of April. They are looking for a mechanic to come for a short term
trip to PNG to serve on a missions school compound and while there, I (Kristin) would
have the awesome and wonderful opportunity to serve the surrounding villages in Doula and
childbirth care. The native women are often left to themselves in this area of their
lives, giving birth in the bush alone and with no assistance or care during the beautiful
miracle of childbirth. The clinics that are set up in the bush area are in great need
and have been looking for help in the way of Midwives etc. The Need is GREAT! But our God
is GREATER! Please pray for us as we seek to know if this is something God would have us
to do right now. The finances it would take to go is mind boggling, just to be able to
go for 4 weeks the month of April, tickets and all we would be looking at $ 14,000.00. An
amount that we have no way to give, but as my husband and I were talking, is just a drop
in the hat to our Lord! He who merely speaks things into being. This short term trip
would be a great honor and introduction into what will one day be a long term lifestyle
for us. Please , please pray that God will provide in this area whether He chooses to use
us at this time or provides another avenue!

The girls and I went went on a field trip to the Cincinnati Children' s Museum along with the other homeschoolers associated with our church. The place was really incredible and very age appropriate. Even Nikayla had a great time, her favorite were the balls that would get sucked up tubes, she laughed and laughed. A highlight of the day was getting to spend it with friends, Stephanie Ryan and her three girls the same ages as ours.

Life here in our neck of the woods seems to just be flyin' by! My favorite season has once again brought with it the awesome colors of gold, amber, reds and browns. It is so beautiful that pictures just don't do it justice! My tykes are well and we celebrated Randalyn's cast removal (finally!) after 8 weeks on, with a huge chocolate Chip cookie from Starbucks:) Randalyn said that this whole experience has been a lil hard but kinda fun! I just hope it's a long time before we have to go through all this again! Autumn and Nikayla are fighting their way through their days lately, sigh, i hope they figure it out soon! With Randalyn busy with school work the other two are having to find a new normal to their routine. Randy is blessed with a LOT of work these day's but somehow found time to squezze in a 4-wheeling trip last weekend that held all sorts of dangerous adventures, I really thank God for lookin' out for my man cause o the stories they have! Me on the other hand, well I have my own daily stories to tell! From wondering if I will make it through another mommy filled day to thanking the Lord for my 3 lil blessings and A wonderful man to hold my hand:)

If God Leads You To It, He WILL Bring You Through It!

Well, life sure has a way of sending you some curves! Last week was one of those rare weeks that come by every once and a while to keep you on your knees, literally! It started out with Mia, our golden retriever having 14 puppies! The vet said that for a litter that was too many and to expect on losing some, well we sure did and didn't know if it would ever stop ::-( we finally ended up with 8 healthy, scootin around, yipping cuties:) I will be sure to post some pics in the near future. Then my stove up and decided that it didn't want to work so meals became a lil more of a challenge and canning was put on a temporary hold, and to top it all off, my wonderful energetic daughter Randalyn broke her right leg on Saturday night which landed us in the ER for 6 hours bringing us home at one in the morning on Sunday, wow was I ever ready for a new week!

Randalyn is doing okay and enjoying the attention quite a bit, i never realized what a queenly sort she could be! And Autumn is stepping up to the plate to fill in and be a big helper because of course she will be a big "4" next week. We are all adjusting and taking one day at a time, Thank you all who have been calling and praying, we appreciate it so very much! "Please keep prayin"! :)

Baby Athena Reese Stitt was born to my brother and his wife Ashliegh! We enjoyed getting to visit them in their home in Michigan while my brother was home for 2 weeks from Afghanistan. He had to return 4 days after their lil one was born, please pray for them all while they get through this time of Chad serving our country and Ashliegh with her hands very full with her wee one and a growing bouncy 15 month old, Jaden!

Wow, it sure has been awhile since i have attempted to sit down and update! This summer has just flown by and now the beautiful fall breezes are blowing our way, Yeah! this is my favorite time of the year, I love the smell of fall in the air, the leaves being painted there beautiful colors of red, amber and gold! and the harvest time is coming to an end, hip hip hooray!:) A summer full of garden work and challenges is starting to fade into the background, o there's still some work to do, tomatoes still need done up, peach jam, some corn and sweet taters, pears, applesauce and apple butter too. Yet somehow when I get to the close of summer these things don't seem as huge as all the other things we have had to get done! Green beans ( 96 quart), Peaches (40 quart) , sweet dill pickles, dill pickles, Salsa (30 quart), freezer corn, canned banana peppers, pickled red beets and eggs, and a LOT of garden work:)

God has been so good to us, He truly has filled our lives with many blessings. This summer was actually one of our hardest ones yet garden wise. We had put a lot of time and work into our garden, like we always do because it's what we try to live off of come winter, but this year the storms hit us! I woke one morning to see our corn crop flat on the ground and the rest of the garden flooded, i literally went to the "pond" to pick out what I could salvage. But the Lord has never failed us, not even one time! A couple in our church gave us 16 dozen ears of corn, a good friend of ours called saying they had some tomatoes, "5 bushel", and our neighbor down the road (who's garden made it) came and told us if we wanted more beans to come and pick em! "Thank you all who blessed us with their extra!"

Randalyn and Autumn have been a lot of help this year. They have helped husk corn, Lyn helped cut it, they have spent many minutes (hours!) picking their fair share of green beans and snapping them. Nikayla has been a good sport and has greatly enjoyed the eating process:) A special thanks to my man too for all his help, again i am so greatly blessed to have a hard workin man who then comes home and helps us in all of our jobs! And many they are, life on our funny farm is never dull! and one word that we have no understanding of is...boredom! Whether it's milkin the goat, untangling the goat, checkin the eggs, chasing chickens out of the garden,
teaching Nikayla to walk, talk and stay out of cupboards:) working with Lyn on her studies ( she is a big first grader this year and loves BJU home school.) teaching Autumn the difference between green maters and ripe maters! mowin the lawn, taking care of puppies or relaxing on the swing with my hubby after a long day, there is always something going on here! The life of a country mama and wife is a blessing that i live each day and I thank God for the life he has chosen for me. Each day I see His blessings in the eyes of my children in the walk of my man and in the stillness (early morning mind u!) and beauty of our country farm. I thank Him and just pray that I can be always remembering of all that He has done for me. That while we are here in America my light can shine and that some day my children will walk in truth, loving God and living for Him.

Randalyn saw this project in a library book and wanted to do the same thing at our house!:) It just so happened that we had bricks in the back yard that Randy had gotten for free somewhere a few years ago, and we had a well cover on the side of our house that could use some cosmetic work! So we went to work on the spur of the moment one Saturday! Randalyn was pretty much in charge, making sure it looked "just like the picture in the book":) then she went with me(mommy) to pick out flowers for her lil tiered garden. I think it turned out quite well!

Here is Randy's "new shed", I like to think and am convinced he can come up with anything! :) All of the building materials for this building came from 2 very large machine crates that he was able to obtain for free from a machine warehouse where a good friend of ours works. He then dismantled the large crates and built the building pictured. He was very excited about finally having himself a place to call "his workshop". And the cost well you just can't beat it! (although roofing is still needed! tarps won't last for long:)

"I am so six!", it seems like everything now is different in her world because she is six! and she lets everyone know it! :) Randalyn had a strawberry shortcake cake (sort of), mommy didn't have much sucess this year! The cake started to flop but she thought it was great and that's all that matters! Daddy bought her a hammer just her size so she can help him outside, she's been practicing quite a bit and really going through the nails. :) Uncle Rob and Aunt Dee bought her a thermos and lunch pail, Randalyn says it's because Uncle Rob wants to take her hunting with him! She also received a Strawberry Shortcake blanket and a few other things, can you believe with all that, she wants to turn 7 now!!! Where do the years go.?

My girls and I! it's when i look at
pictures like this that i realize how grown up Randalyn is becoming, where did my baby go? She is such a big help to me (i just wish the years could slow down some!) and she is doing so well in school, this is her first year, she is doing A Beka DVD home school and she tells people that her teachers are Mrs. Bere and Mommy. What she does'nt know is that mommy would be lost without Mrs. Bere!

Autumn is so excited that her hair is "growing up!" - is what she say's :) She had pony tails in before the picture, not sure where they went! One of my greatest desires is to raise Godly girls for Him. And that they grow up knowing how much I love them.

Here are a few updated pictures of my girls...being 'o so funny, you would probably have to be here to get the full effect but we had a good time laughing with them. We found Nikayla in Randalyn's school desk (Randalyn had put her there) She thought she was quite the big girl. The pictures of Randalyn and Autumn are of them dressed up as pilgrims or was that '50's chicks! Then we have all three of them "playing" cherry O! "Their love and laughter fill our days with so much joy".

I Love my rascals:) Nikayla is growing up so fast and she has even said her first word, Ma Ma Ma! Daddy isn't real impressed but I told him it was my turn since the other girls said Da Da first. "Notice my pouting angel" :) things weren't going her way, but the wings really added to the picture, looks like cuz Kiana thinks it's funny!

We had quite the snow and ice storm! It left everything looking beautiful, well i wouldn't consider our pigs beautiful but everything else... :) especially when the sun came out, God has such beautiful art! I love how the ice looks on the trees, it looks like glass, pictures don't do the real thing justice.

Please pray for my brother Chad, and his family, wife Ashliegh, son Jaden and new baby on the way, as He is leaving for Afghanistan, we will miss him a lot but most of look forward to his safe return.

This past fall we had a huge tree in our back yard come down, for awhile it sat and became a new "play ground", photo prop and now fire wood. Friends of ours, Vicki and Abe came over and we had a whole day of cutting down that big tree, complete with Chili, cornbread, baked apples and plenty of coffee.

Every year our church, the Christian Nation Church, hosts a special Christmas dinner for all who attend there, it's a special occasion that we all look forward to here's my girls dressed their best! These pictures happen to be some of my personal favorites:)
